MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:
Production of high quality Instrument products, meeting daily and weekly deadlines. Light assembly/wiring, test & calibration of opto/electro/mechanical instruments.

Achieving agreed manufacturing schedules while maintaining product quality and delivery performance within budgeted factory costings.
Maximising the full potential of SAP in all aspects of product manufacture. Responsibility for following relevant SAP business transaction procedures.
Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives leading to product cost reductions in both parts and labour.
Attending daily production Team Briefs.
Mechanical assembly/test of instruments to specified procedures and pass / fail criteria.
Ensuring all products are manufactured to approved assembly and test documentation, resolving quality issues where appropriate.
Identifying both product and software non–conformance to engineering drawings or technical specifications and reporting back to the Manufacturing Engineering Department and, where necessary, the New Product Development department. Using the NCR, ECN & SCR databases for all reporting, providing constructive feedback when required.
Effective and professional communication within own/other operational cells, cross-functional teams and suppliers/customers as required. Maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues.
Ensuring all lean techniques are implemented effectively.
Participating in continuous improvement and 5s initiatives.
Works within yellow belt framework.
Health & Safety
Ensures a clean and safe working environment is maintained at all times and that the Health and Safety Policy is adhered to at all times.
Ensuring all equipment is in safe working order, with machinery being used appropriately and to required operating standards.
Liaising with Site Services regards equipment maintenance requirements.
Reporting all incidents and accidents to the UK Operations Manager, logging details in the accident book.
Ensuring that the requirements of the Business Management System (ISO9001), Environmental Management System (ISO14001), and OHSAS 18001 are met at all times.
Accountable to the Manufacturing Team Leader.
ENVIRONMENT AND HOURS:
Based at Malvern, UK. Contractual hours 37.5 per week. Within the rules of the flexi-time scheme. Overtime paid.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED OF THE JOB HOLDER:
Good basic education.
An approved qualification in an engineering/electronic discipline preferred.
Skills & Experience
Good general engineering skills (mechanical, electronic, electrical)
Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows and Lotus Notes.
Experience of light opto/electronic/mechanical instrument assembly/test.
An understanding of basic electronics.
Experience of lean manufacturing.
Good verbal communication skills.
